Full Name: Christos Gioldasis (Χρήστος Γιολδάσης)
Date of Birth: 10th November 1987
Chris Gioldasis’ musical journey with Phase began when he teamed up with Thanos in 2004 to collaborate on the latter’s ideas. Their creative partnership blossomed during these early years, as Chris brought a fresh perspective to Thanos’ musical vision. One notable moment from their first sessions was when Chris shared a melody he had written, inspired by the haunting music of Prince of Persia, a video game he had played obsessively, that ended up forming the basis for Perdition, Thanos added guitar parts and lyrics on, for Alex Arnaoutoglou to later add the arpeggiators using Propellerhead’s Reason. Chris envisioned the hook’s melody being played by a sitar, influenced by the aformentioned atmospheric soundtrack composed by Stuart Chatwood of The Tea Party. This moment marked a key point for the band’s sound, adding a new layer to it, together with Chris‘ and Alex‘s Anatolian roots and musical influences.
Chris was an integral part of the group, contributing to the band’s development and growth until 2009. His musical contributions during these years helped shape the band’s early identity, and his influence can still be felt in the group’s sound. After his departure in 2009, Chris continued to pursue his musical and personal endeavours, leaving behind a legacy that is deeply woven into the band’s formative years.
