Full Name: Dimitrios Lytras (Δημήτριος Λύτρας)
Jim Lytras studied alongside Alex and Thanos in the same course, where the three formed a strong friendship and creative bond. Jim became an essential part of Phase, contributing his unique drumming style that played a key role in shaping their early sound.
Jim’s drumming brought a free-spirited, vibrant energy to Phase. His eclectic style, deeply influenced by blues, hippy and psychedelic movements, infused the band’s music with a mood that aligned with their artistic vision. His contributions were integral to Phase’s early identity, helping to lay the foundation for the band’s sound and image.
However, Jim‘s time with Phase came to a sudden end due to a misunderstanding with Thanos, which escalated during a particularly tense night at a gig. In the midst of an alcohol-fueled atmosphere, tensions between them grew, eventually leading to a physical altercation. To explain the level of intoxication the pair had reached, it’s worth noted they were audaciously stealing beer from the band performing on stage.
Interestingly, The Saint was present and witnessed the fallout. Overtime, Jim and Thanos have discussed the events of that night, and both now view it as a misunderstanding born from youthful exuberance and external pressures. Their relationship has since healed, and the incident is regarded as water under the bridge.
While Jim’s time in Phase was brief, his tenure spanning about 3 years, his influence on the band’s image and early style remains recognised.
In the years since, Jim has found fulfillment as a pastry chef, where his creativity and flair for detail are expressed through the delicate art of baking. Jim’s ability to blend creativity with technique has made him a standout in his new field, demonstrating that his artistic spirit continues to thrive, even outside the world of music.
