In Profile: Damos Harharidis

Full Name: Damianos Harharidis (Δαμιανός Χαρχαρίδης)

Date of Birth: 22nd July 1989

Damos Harharidis has been a close friend and musical collaborator of Thanos since 2005, when Thanos’ younger cousin, Dinos, enlisted him to produce a demo for a band Dinos and Damos had formed. Though that band eventually disbanded and morphed into Gallows Tree, it was during this period that Thanos quickly recognised Damos’ exceptional musical talents. Thanos reached out to him to work on Phase‘s material, though their initial sessions didn’t yield any desired results. Despite this early setback, their friendship and professional relationship continued to flourish.

In 2011, after years of mutual respect and close friendship, Thanos invited Damos to officially join the band, alongside Marios Papakostas, with Alex Arnaoutoglou’s full support, just before he extended the invitation to The Saint to complete the lineup. This new lineup played their first gig on Damos‘ birthday that same year, marking a memorable milestone in the band’s history.

Damos’ role within the band became even more pronounced with Phase’s sophomore album, The Wait. He carried much of the weight in producing and mixing the album, playing a pivotal role in shaping its sound. Damos built on and standardised signature techniques for using soundscapes that became central to the band’s identity, helping to define their atmospheric, textured sound. While he briefly considered relocating to Newcastle, personal obligations kept him in Greece. Nevertheless, Damos remained deeply involved with Phase, consistently contributing to the production side of the band’s work and maintaining a strong presence on and behind the scenes.

Though unable to play live gigs regularly, Damos always kept one foot in Phase, continuing to guide their sound and providing the creative support needed for their musical journey. His influence, both as a producer and as a band member, has been a crucial part of the band’s evolution during the years.
