Q: Glory or Money?
Being Achiles‘ hometown’s native myself, posthumous fame couldn’t have bypassed my mind without preoccupying it even to the slightest in the past. I think I have diminished, as much as possible, the arrogance, the need for acceptance, and the greediness for praise in me. The concept of inner-world immortality is deeply ingrained in us nevertheless, and we need to be conscious of how that drives our actions. When it comes to money, I see it more as a tool and not as an end in itself. Money is not by anyone’s standards beneath me, as we all need it to settle our matters, and it is a useful tool to communicate value in things. I think however that everybody should have enough to afford sufficient leisure time for themselves, to allow them to be working by choice on something rewarding, rather than occupying dead-end roles just to survive. If I was offered I’d probably take the money to build a children’s hospital or something and ensure I’d get to the glory part by actually creating utility.
